Senior Consultant Data Science

Deloitte

Sep 2021 – Dec 2023 Frankfurt

As Senior Consultant in the team AI & Data Analytics in the Risk Advisory business I helped clients generate value-added from data in various projects:

  • Within a larger Deloitte team I helped a large bank deliver the 2022 ECB Climate Risk Stress Test. My task was to validate and improve the method of classifying the bank’s credit exposure secured by real-estate in its largest market into the correct Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) classes which would later be stressed at different levels in the stress test scenarios. Then I also used a similar approach to classify exposure in other European markets, using publicly available data.
  • in my last engagement I worked as a data analyst for a large bank. In the first months I supported the team developing early warning models for credit defaults using machine learning methods. From October 2022 to September 2023 I worked in a team estimating climate and environmental risks and working on the methodologies for integrating of these risks in the bank’s credit risk models. There I maintained and further developed the team’s Power BI dashboard and helped move its data infrastructure into a production environment, together with a dedicated IT team in the risk department.
  • on the side from early 2022 I led a pro-bono project with a large international NGO focussed on environmental protection. In this project we integrated data from various sources, processed them using AI technologies and visualised them in an interactive dashboard in the cloud.

The surge in global demand for – and limited supply of – semiconductors during the recent economic recovery has led to bottlenecks for manufacturing firms. Although chip shortages pose constraints for several producers in Europe, so far there is very limited evidence concerning the effects of semiconductor shortages on price developments along the pricing chain.

Beekeepers face the situation that the health state of honey bee colonies is inherently difficult to observe without stressing the bees by opening the hive. We address this problem by proposing an approach that relies on a sensor setup to gather multisensory data inside the bee colony and focus on the detection of outliers in the data stream as indicators of critical situations during the colony’s development.
